What was an important Jesus moment in your life?
I served as a chaplain for two and a half years and during that time I sat with many families when their loved ones were near death. I remember a heartbreaking loss of a newborn baby which was totally unexpected following a normal pregnancy. When I prayed with the mother, surrounded by many family members, a peace descended on the room which could only come from God.
What is your favorite TV show and why?
I binge watched the British show Midsommer Murders. I loved the main character, DCI Barnaby because in many stressful and difficult incidents he was always kind and full of grace.
If you could sit down with anyone in the world for coffee, who would it be?
I would love to have coffee with Michelle Obama. From humble beginnings and with amazing family support she has overcome and accomplished amazing things in her own life. Yet, she is so relatable.
What’s the most trouble you’ve ever been in?
When I was 11, I fell skiing and broke my leg. The troublesome part was that my friend seeing that my foot was “on backwards” turned my foot around. What could have resulted in a severe handicap wound up setting multiple breaks found later that night at ER.
Why do you believe in God?
I don’t need a “why.” Through God’s grace, I’ve been given the gift of faith. The Creator’s presence is something I have always known.
Why is the church community important to you?
I can worship and pray in the forest or on the coast, but I can only be a Christian in community with others. It’s in community that we can be Jesus in the world and work toward the kingdom.
