Postion: Church Business Administrator
Schedule –Sunday through Thursday with occasional evening hours. (average of 36 hours a week)
Rate – Starting between $32.00 and $33.50 an hour

Messiah Lutheran Church and Preschool is in search of an Administrator who will serve as the backbone of our church’s daily operations and management. We are seeking someone that feels a spiritual calling to support the mission and services of our church and preschool community. There are three primary aspects to the role: Office Management, Financial Management and Communication Management. The candidate must have a proactive attitude, attention to detail, and a heart to serve with the church’s other staff positions. The Church Administrator will act as a liaison among various church groups, manage church resources efficiently and maintain an organized environment conductive to worship, learning, and followship.
Summary of essential job duties:
- Oversee daily operations of the church office and campus facilities. This requires performing some of the administrative tasks in addition to supervising others assisting with church operations and facilities maintenance.
- Full cycle onboarding and offboarding of staff and volunteers to include posting jobs, volunteer opportunities, participating in interviews, conducting background investigations, maintaining personnel and volunteer records, and processing employment terminations.
- Coordinate, plan or otherwise assist with church events. Manage all inquiries, details of room use and manage the church calendar.
- Ensure effective communication within the church staff, congregational members, preschool staff, and external contacts.
- Manage church financial records, budgeting, and supervise bookkeeping and payroll in coordination with the Financial Secretary, Treasurer, and Church Leadership Team.
- Manage church insurance contracts (with Pastor & CLT assistance)
- Maintain church member records and databases.
- Ensure compliance with legal requirements for health and safety, food hygiene, and employment practices. Understand required practices for background checks for both staff and volunteers.
- Facilitate church communications such as newsletters, bulletins and emails.
- Supervise the facility maintenance and security of church property.
- Order supplies and other materials, negotiating for the best price within the scope of what is needed.
- Develops and updates church and office policies and procedures in coordination with appropriate committees, staff, Pastors, and leadership team members.
- Assist in the preparation of worship materials and programs.
- Implement and improve administrative process for better efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with church leadership to align administrative functions and operations with the church & preschool’s mission.
Education and skills needed:
- Bachelor’s degree in management, communications or other closely related field, or equivalent combination of experience and education required.
- Displays an understanding and respect for Christian Ministry and church operations.
- Must be able to always maintain strict confidentiality and appropriate professional discretion.
- Three to five years managing and overseeing office operations, preferably within a church or non-profit setting.
- Experience supervising internal employees, volunteers as well as external vendors/contractors.
- Human Resources experience preferred.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft office software programs such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Database management & Google Workspace experience necessary.
- Experience working with a variety of social media and digital media platforms.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the capacity to work with a wide range of individuals in a collaborative and productive manner.

Position: Messiah North Vocalist
Status: Part-time, Stipend
Position Purpose:
The Lead Vocalist will serve as the primary singer for Messiah’s contemporary worship
band, operating out of the Ridgefield, Washington location, helping lead the
congregation in engaging, Christ-centered worship. This role combines musical
leadership with a heart for ministry, aligning with the theology and mission of the
Lutheran tradition while embracing a modern worship style. This is a part-time, stipend role and consists of 4-5 hours weekly.
Essential Job Duties:
Serve as the lead singer for the contemporary worship team during a weekly service on Sunday mornings and special events.
Assist with vocal arrangements and harmonies for the worship team.
Attend and participate in weekly rehearsals and worship team meetings.
Collaborate with other vocalists and musicians to ensure cohesive and unified worship experiences.
Work effectively in a team environment, as well as independently, to accomplish goals and objectives.
Stay current on worship music, new releases, worship artists, recordings, etc.
Maintain confidentiality.
Required Attributes, Skills and Abilities:
A sincere love for God and God’s people.
A solid understanding of the foundations of the Christian faith and a willingness to learn the Lutheran traditions.
Skilled vocalist and ability to enthusiastically facilitate musical worship.
Regular on time and consistent attendance and communication is essential to the success of this position.
Working Conditions:
The physical working conditions are primarily inside during the cooler rainier months and working outside under a covered tent during warmer seasons. Moving between the various worship locations (i.e., indoor or outdoor) on concrete. Moving and carrying loads not to exceed 20 pounds may be required. Chemical exposure is limited to craft, office and cleaning supplies.
