Messiah will commission Ron Klump as a new Stephen Minister on Sunday, May 5 at both services.
Brownies and blondies will be shared after the services to honor his commitment to Messiah's caring ministries. Ron has received 50 hours of specialized training in Christian caregiving, so he is prepared to help members of our congregation and community who are experiencing a hard time in their lives. Stephen Ministry provides confidential, one-to-one Christian care. Stephen Ministers meet weekly with their care receiver for about an hour to listen, encourage, pray, and provide emotional and spiritual support. Caring relationships last for as long as the person's need persists.
Two years ago, Ron became a Stephen Leader doing 25 hours of training online to help guide our program here at Messiah. He felt called to be one of the people to provide one-to-one care and since Messiah didn't have enough people to start our own training class this past fall; Ron drove to East Woods Presbyterian Church one night a week for several months to participate in the necessary training.
Please pray for Ron as well as our other active Stephen Ministers—Marilyn Mattson, Dianne Dawson and Cathy Haywood—ask God to bless their ministry and work through them to bring hope and healing to those whom they serve. Pray also for the future of Messiah's Stephen Ministry program. Being used by God to bring peace and love to someone who is struggling is a tremendous blessing.
