Our pastoral candidates, were at the Hazel Dell campus for an informal "Meet and Greet" on June 13.
Many of you were able to make it, and I think everyone left feeling pleased and optimistic about our candidates! They made a point of visiting with folks at each table during the potluck.
There was so much food! Thank you all. After NOT eating, they gave wonderful synopses of the faith journeys that led them to their callings and, ultimately, to us. As they spoke and answered questions from the audience, I think we all felt very comfortable that they will be a great fit for our congregation, and that the holy spirit has been leading us all to this new beginning. Now the next important step… We all need to be in church June 23 for a Call vote.
A Call cannot be extended until a quorum of our voting members give the okay. That meeting will be held after service at the Hazel Dell campus on June 23. We will have some extra snacks after service, but we really don't expect it to take very long.
Proxy voting for meetings is not allowed by our constitution, but electronic participation is. We strongly encourage personal attendance at this meeting. However, if you are unable to attend in person, and would like to participate online, please contact the church office to request Zoom access.
After almost 2 years, we are finally on the cusp of getting new pastors! Our dream to have another clergy couple as pastors is coming to fruition, thanks to the hard work of our Call Committee, led by Vick Taylor-Roskopf.
They have done amazing work!
Once we have an affirmative Call vote, I know we will all be excited to get them here as soon as possible.
They would like to be here by the end of July. The plan is for them to rent the church owned (intern) house for at least a year or two. It is in decent shape, but needs to be emptied and thoroughly cleaned. Please keep your eyes and ears open for opportunities to help with this effort. There will need to be several work party days. This is going to be a big project, so we need all hands on deck to help "prepare the way" for our new pastors to join our community.
