One of the things that I love most about our denomination is that we build bridges.
Usually, the bridges are metaphorical: connecting across denominational lines, forging partnerships with community organizations, bringing people together to work for a common purpose. But occasionally, the bridges we build are more concrete (and steel, and wood).
This article from Living Lutheran details one of the ways that Lutheran Disaster Response is working in hurricane-affected regions of western North Carolina to build bridges that connect people back to state-maintained roads.
These bridges are vital lifelines to school, work, medical care, and community. We get involved in this kind of work because it is a natural expression of our faith.
It is prayer turned to action. It is what love looks like in public life. This work is funded, in part, by offerings from this congregation, joined with thousands of other congregations across the country. Thank you for being a part of this life-transforming work!
