Preaching Series from Ephesians
For the rest of the summer, beginning this Sunday, July 14, the epistle reading in our lectionary is from the Book of Ephesians. Of the total verses in Ephesians (155), nearly half (75) will be read during these seven Sundays. While authorship of this book is debated, we know it provides major teachings and exhortations for the church to be united and encouraged to be the new creation in Christ.
The following themes emerge from the texts and will be explored in a preaching series (subject to my term as Bridge Pastor, of course):
July 14 Ephesians 1:3-14 CHOSEN
July 21 Ephesians 2:11-22 RECONCILED
July 28 Ephesians 3:14-21 STRENGTHENED
August 4 Ephesians 4:1-16 UNITED
August 11 Ephesians 4:25-5:2 COUNSELED
August 18 Ephesians 5:15-20 FILLED
August 25 Ephesians 6:10–20 EQUIPPED
Throughout this study you might want to read the text and give it some reflection before worship each Sunday. I hope you'll find it worthwhile.
Have a peaceful summer! Look forward to seeing you and sharing the Word together.
