Last week we had some class volunteers go through all of the food and throw away all expired items. This means that now we are very low on what we can provide students .
This year, as many of you know, inflation year has become a tremendous and painful obstacle for our students and families at River. This has caused our Food Pantry and Care Closet to be used by more families and more often.
We are experiencing unprecedented shortages of many food items. Any shelf stable, non-expired food item is greatly appreciated (toiletries too). In the past, you have shown such amazing and unconditional generosity. I wish I could get the reactions of our students on camera to show you their faces when they walk in the Care Closet and see that they can have anything in there for free. Or the excitement that they display when they are packing food items to make dinner for their younger siblings. I know that sometimes donating seems like a thankless task, but please know that we at CRHS are truly thankful for you and for all of the good work that you have done over the years for our students.
The following items are represent out greatest needs:
Boxed meals (Rice-a-Roni, Pasta-Roni, Tuna Helper, mac and cheese, etc)
Canned fruit
Cereal (kid friendly)
Cup-o-Noodles/Top Ramen
Jelly (Various flavors)
