In the 'old days' churches used to have professional Church Directory companies come in, take family pictures, sell family pictures (to you,) and then make church directories for free out of the proceeds. That was all well and good, but not what most of us do anymore. Now churches (like Messiah) have more sophisticated membership software programs with which we can make our own directories. They're not as fancy perhaps, but they work!!
All we need, of course, is the pictures!!
Enter Sheri Backus!! Sheri is a photographer and she has offered to take pictures for us. WHAT A GIFT!! Thank you, Sheri!!
Sheri got warmed up and started taking pictures Rally Sunday, September 10. She has committed to be available for your family picture 30 minutes before worship and 30 minutes after Sundays September 17 & 24 at the Hazel Dell Campus, and then the same 30 minutes before and after at Messiah North Sunday, October 8. So, pack up and dress up the troops and come on in. (Sheri will be glad to share a digital copy of the pictures she takes with you if requested, but there is no way to order copies through her or the church. Also - truth in advertising - we don't know exactly what our directory will look like, but we're going to give it a shot!)
When you get your picture taken we will also have a "check your basic information" sheet for you. Name spelling, address, phone, email, etc. While it is most helpful to have this information on you in the church, please know that what is shared (or not) in the church directory is totally up to you.
Can't make any of the Sundays Sheri will be available? Well, if you want you can send in a family selfie or other digital photo. All things are possible. (Just send them to Laurie in the Church Office
Staff is considering October "Make a Directory" month in addition to their other duties. Help us get the job done. We're excited!
