Messiah North collecting gifts for Ridgefield Family Resource Center

by Julie Backous

One of the missions supported by Messiah is the Ridgefield Family Resource Center, located at the Ridgefield School District's district office at the RACC on Pioneer in Ridgefield. This busy center serves many families in need, especially this time of year. Messiah has helped with the Family Event each Christmas for the past several years.

This event enables children to come to the center to "shop" for gifts for their family members. The gifts are a donation and are freely given to the children to take home.

Director Chris Poppert explains that parents can bring their children to the center and wait in one room while the children "shop" for gifts in the other room, so that they can surprise their parents or siblings on Christmas. They can pick out an appropriate gift and are assisted with wrapping the gift (or gifts) to take home with them for Christmas.

Messiah North will be part of this event again this year and will be collecting gifts starting Sunday, November 27. We will have a giving tree set up with ideas for gifts or you can bring gifts for the collection beginning next Sunday. We will collect UNWRAPPED gifts until December 4 at Messiah North or you can bring them directly to the Resource Center if you prefer. The center will accept gifts until December 9.
