Meet Messiah's College Summer Interns for 2020

Kellie Escovy
Wartburg College, Waverly, IA
Hometown – Katy, TX
Major – Religion
Graduation – Spring 2022

Hello Messiah! My name is Kellie Escovy, and I am so excited to be one of your interns this summer! I'm twenty years old, and I'm from Katy, TX. I am currently a sophomore at Wartburg College in Waverly, IA, studying Religion in an integrated BA/MDiv program. I hope to one day be a pastor of an inner-city church and possibly eventually get a Ph.D. in Liberation Theology.

I'm a Crocs enthusiast and an avid summer camper. When I'm not in class, I'm working at Woodhaven Shelter for 11- to 17-year-olds placed either through Juvenile Courts or DHS. I also enjoy really sweet oranges, playing with other people's pets, soft blankets, and dancing to Taylor Swift and Queen. I'm really bad at playing guitar and haven't won a game of gaga ball in years, but that doesn't mean I won't try! Most of all, I love learning about ministry and talking to people about CHURCH! Thanks so much for this awesome opportunity - I'm so excited to meet y'all!

Major – Religion and Communications
Minor – Classics
Graduation – Spring 2023

Hello Messiah! I am Madeline Trosvig and I am thrilled to join your community this summer by working as an intern! A little about myself: I am from Fergus Falls, Minnesota and currently a freshman at Augustana University in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. I am double majoring in Religion and Communications, and also working towards a minor in Ancient Languages. As of now, I have a career interest in working with the church somehow, whether that is pastoral work or working for organizations involving churches, like the ELCA. Another career that I would love, would be working in an assisted living/nursing home as an activity director.

I keep busy in school with campus ministry, staying active, nannying, and working with a local church. I am working towards getting a synchronized swimming club started for next year at Augie, as synchro is one of my top passions. Children are also a strong passion of mine. At my home church, I ran the youth group for the elementary children, worked as a camp counselor at Luther Crest Bible Camp, currently mentor high school-aged kids at Holy Cross Church, in Sioux Falls, and nanny for a family here as well! In my free time, I enjoy making music (I had a band back home that I loved), working out, and getting coffee with friends. I am so grateful for this experience to discern what God is calling me to do and to grow in your community!
