Holy, Holy, Holy

This Sunday, May 26, 2024, is Holy Trinity Sunday. It is the only Sunday of the Church Year, really, dedicated to a doctrine of the Church as opposed to a story from a part of the life of Jesus. Last Sunday, Pentecost Sunday, we turned the corner from the Season of Easter to the Season of Pentecost. Easter is the last of Jesus' earthly life story. Pentecost is the beginning of the Christian Church story. So, going forward we focus on "teachings of the Church" as oppose to the "life of Jesus." It's a murky distinction - but that's the theory.

The point here, though, is the Sunday of the Holy Trinity. It's sort of a liturgical lynch pin between the two emphases.

Having said that now I have to tell you that I'm really not preaching a "Holy Trinity" sermon. Sorry! I've picked different Bible Lessons for us and I'm doing my own thing. (That sounds like trouble.) If you want to play along my Bible Lessons for Sunday are Revelation 22:1-5 and John 15:1-11

Or, if you're just looking for something to do you can watch Disney's classic Johnny Appleseed short

OR, if you want a "What the heck?!" moment you might check out Sam van Aken and his Tree of 40 Fruit or hear his Ted Talk and really be over prepared for Sunday's sermon!

See you Sunday!

Pr. Dave Brauer-Rieke
