Church Leadership Team Update May 2025

The Church Leadership Team (CLT) meets the second Tuesday of each month to consider and decide on a wide range of church matters.

This is intended to be a monthly column to keep you updated on CLT business.

At our most recent meeting on May 13, 2025:

  • New CLT Officers were elected: Brenda Gardner reelected president, Rod Ludvigsen elected vice president and Sheri Backous reelected secretary. In addition, Mark Roskopf was reappointed as Treasurer and Doug Ruecker was reappointed as Financial Secretary.
  • Mark R. reported we will have an end of fiscal year surplus due largely to unfilled staff positions. It was agreed to move $22,500 to the Capital Reserve Fund and $6,000 to the Emergency Fund in order to have funds for building repairs as the needs arise.
  • Doug R. reported donations are up 5.2% ahead of last fiscal year. Also, Special Lent offerings totalled $2,361.50. Additional Endowment matching funds will provide for checks to Lutheran World Relief Disaster Response in the amount of $5,725 and to a CA Lutheran Church coordinating local efforts in the amount of $4,000.
  • Noted 48 preschool students are registered already for the 2025-2026 school year.
  • Noted cross replacement at Hazel Dell campus is on track. A down payment has been made, and the wood will now be ordered. Tree trimming for the 4 trees in the HD entryway was also approved.
  • Discussed the June 1 semi annual meeting preparations. The report is on track to be published 2 weeks prior to the meeting. Agreed to request staff members be present at the meeting, but not required to give their reports verbally.
  • Discussed installing new CLT members and officers at both locations. The Date is yet to be determined.
  • The Financial Audit is tentatively scheduled for June 10 and 11. An additional person may be needed. Rod L. offered to assist.
  • Discussed a plan to have CLT members available to answer questions in the fellowship hall after services on Sundays in HD. A sign up sheet will be created.
  • Approved a gift of $500 to the synod for the retirement of bishop Jaech.
  • Insurance renewal is proceeding in June. We will continue efforts to obtain competetive quotes.
