We reviewed Holy Week activity, noting there were 8 services in 8 days. It was busy, but things went well, attendance was good and the service projects were well received. It was particularly noteworthy that it was the first Holy Week at Messiah for several staff members. Angela, Jared and Jena all did a fantastic job during the busy week.
We were pleased to find out we do not have to change the Sunday service time at the Ridgefield Campus.
Appreciation was noted for Lael Maddox and Pastor Tom, who provided coverage while the pastors were on vacation. Everyone was excited to see Lael and Maria.
Messiah is hosting the synod education gathering on May 30. Volunteers will be needed in the kitchen and elsewhere.
Our Treasurer and Financial Secretary reported revenue is behind budget for the first 9 months of the fiscal year. It will be addressed in the upcoming budget recommendations.
The new cross at Hazel Dell will be installed within a few weeks. There was discussion about removing the trees along the walkway. Even after pruning, the trees impair visibility of the cross. Root damage is also occurring to the sidewalks and underground pipes.
Quarterly grant recommendations by the Endowment Committee were approved.
Reminders were issued that the semi-annual meeting will be held on June 7, with reports due by early May.
Treasurer, Mark R., presented constitutional updates required to comply with ELCA guidelines as well as an amendment to add an appointed Youth Member to the CLT. This will be presented for a vote at the June 7 semi-annual meeting of the congregation. A second vote will be required. Thank you to Mark for making these changes.
A big thank you to Rob Ramer and Rod Ludvigsen for their service on the Church Leadership Team. Both of their terms ended with this April meeting. They have both served Messiah in multiple capacities, and we are very grateful. Rob Ramer not only served as president for two years but also served on the Call Committee that brought our pastors, spent many hours updating our constitution and more.
Respectfully submitted,
Brenda Gardner
CLT President
