An Easter Invitation to Party

The most stunning thing happened one Sunday morning a little over 2,000 years ago. That occurrence, that shifting of the entire cosmos, that realignment of what grace and salvation could mean for humanity, resurrection, and the conquering of death, that is what we celebrate on Easter. We celebrate that while we may have tried to put love incarnate to death, love itself rose up again in new life and offered that new life to us all, freely. We celebrate the rising of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ of Nazareth, on him whom we place all hope.

We know that things may feel like it isn't quite time for a celebration. Maybe you are groaning in your heart, wanting to gather as community, and you are going to find this Easter, shared together yet apart, challenging. Maybe this season is one where things seem like they might be too much to bear. This is why we think that celebration is all the more needed. We would say even demanded of us as disciples of Jesus Christ in the Lutheran tradition. We are the grace people. We know for a fact that what happened on that Sunday morning 2,000 plus years ago has absolutely granted us salvation. We don't have to earn it. We don't have to work for it. We don't even have to be together in person for it to be still true.

So, this Easter for the livestream, we're asking you to gather balloons, confetti, streamers, cake, mimosas, or whatever you need to have a party. Wine and Bread for Communion. Decorate your whole living room, and as you sit down for worship with us, know that we are rejoicing too! We are raising our voices and declaring that Jesus is risen, that this Sunday morning dawn changes the world. So make sure you gather all you will need for a party for Easter Sunday worship, and please email photos of your celebrations to us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.! We will share them on the livestream. Let us declare with joy what we still have on this Easter, like every Easter. He is Risen!
