Despite rescheduling because of the snow and ice, nearly 100 people attended the event, not to mention over a dozen volunteers who served that day!
A central part of this success was the Messiah Lutheran Endowment Fund. Your contribution of $960 was generous and kind, and I am so thankful. In the future, we hope to continue our partnership with Messiah Lutheran Church.
My goal is to double the number of people who attend next year, expand fundraising efforts to enrich the curriculum and have enough t-shirts for everyone. Thank you again for believing in the vision of this event!
The MLK Kids Celebration in Vancouver was a huge success, with nearly 100 kids and their families coming together to learn and live the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This multicultural event was filled with activities such as STEM and art projects, crafts, and storytelling that taught kids about community and advocacy. Kids and families left the event with new friendships and a deeper understanding of Dr. King's message of love and justice.
The event was made possible by the generous support from Messiah Lutheran Church, Laura Rider Designs, the Columbia Play Project, Majek NW, LLC, and all the amazing volunteers, who made it happen.
Mark your calendars for next year's MLK Day on January 20th, 2025! Our goal is to double the number of kids we serve and raise enough funds to provide snacks, t-shirts, and supplies for everyone.
Let's continue to honor the legacy of Dr. King by coming together in celebration and education.
