Friends and family from the US and Liberia will participate in the service simultaneously.

While awaiting a liver transplant and battling a blood infection, Lawson Jallah died early in the morning, June 13. He was a well-beloved member of Messiah and a faithful member of the adult choir. He seldom missed a Wednesday or Sunday at church.

Lawson immigrated to the US in September 1998 with the help of Partners in Education and first stayed in Lancaster, S.C. One of his proudest moments with Pr. Peter was when he produced both his GED diploma and his citizenship certificate in 2013. Lawson was a naturalized US citizen.

In 2016, with the assistance of many of his friends at Messiah, Lawson was able to travel back to Liberia to marry Dekontee, to whom he was engaged for many years.* When he returned, many of this same group from Messiah set about assisting him in the difficult task of bringing Dekontee to the United States. They were still working to overcome bureaucratic hurdles and logistical hurdles when Lawson died.

His memorial will be Wednesday, July 29. It will be a live tream service from the Hazel Dell sanctuary (similar to Sunday mornings). The start time will be 9:00a so that his family and friends in Liberia will be able to watch their time in the early evening.
