We were newly married and barely scraping by financially when someone stole one of our car tires. Not being able to afford a replacement tire, we simply prayed, “God, all we want is to get our tire back.” My husband was driving to Fred Meyer to get lug nuts for our spare tire when he felt a very clear urging to turn down a side street he had never gone down before. He saw someone putting a tire on their car that looked just like ours. He called the police, and the guy confessed to stealing our tire, and it was returned to us. It was a clear but powerful answer to a simple prayer at a formative time in our marriage.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be?

I love birdwatching and I always have dreams of flying or levitating, so I guess flying would be my superpower.

What’s the most trouble you’ve ever been in?

In high school, we got caught tp’ing (stringing toilet paper in someone’s yard) by my best friend’s dad, who made us clean it all up. As a joke, he called my mom, pretending to be a police officer. She was mortified but later laughed.

What’s one of the most embarrassing things you’ve ever done?

I was having dinner with a college friend’s family and suddenly choked after taking a big gulp of milk. Milk sprayed out of my mouth and nose all over the dinner table. It made for a great first impression.

Why do you believe in God?

Because God has shown me over and over, God is real, and God uses people and situations to validate God’s existence. I am always amazed at the intricacies of life and how only an all-knowing, loving, all-powerful God could have created us and everything around us.

What do you like best about working for Jesus and his people?

I enjoy being part of a bigger cause that makes an eternal difference. Coming from working in an environment where sharing one’s faith was highly discouraged, I appreciate being able to pray for and with my co-workers and the Messiah family and to be a part of the Great Commission.
