Returning Veterans Project - An Opportunity to Give this Season

RVP Masthead for Web

Over that past three years, members and friends of Messiah have been generous supporters of the Returning Veterans Project (RVP). Our gifts and those from other supporters helped the RVP deliver a record number of, 4,387 hours of free confidential counseling and somatic services in 2014, to 360 veterans & service members, and 106 family members in Oregon and Southwest Washington! You are invited to consider making a gift this Veterans Day.

In 2011, after 1,200 41st Brigade troops returned from the war in Iraq, the number of veterans the Returning Veterans Project served soared by 150% the following year.

This summer, 953 Oregon Army National Guard 41st Brigade troops who call Oregon home returned from Afghanistan. For some of them, this was their 8th or 9th war zone deployment. Your gift this Veterans Day will help to ensure that the RVP is ready to meet another steep expected client number increase this year and next.

Every $50 given enables RVP to provide free services to one returning veteran or military family member for 12-months! As Winston Churchill once said, “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”
