The Church Leadership Team and pastors are pleased to announce that Charles Reinmuth has accepted their invitation to succeed David Teeter as Messiah's Director of Worship and Music (0.8 FTE) and Director of Information Technologies (0.2 FTE). He will begin in a part-time transitional role this week and go full-time January 1, 2020.
Charles is a long-time son of the congregation, having grown up at Messiah since the age of two in 1999—the same year David Teeter began serving Messiah. Charles is a true protégé of David, who helped him develop as a keyboardist and singer over the years.
Charles will graduate from Pacific Lutheran University (PLU) this December. During the fall semester, he will complete his student teaching requirement to receive his Bachelor's degree in Music Education (BME) with an emphasis in secondary choral direction. He was awarded a four-year organ performance scholarship to attend the university and for three years served PLU's University Congregation as its paid worship and music coordinator. At the same time, he served as half-time Director of Media and Sound at Grace Lutheran Church in Des Moines, WA, where he focused on all things digital and audio for one of the largest ELCA congregations in the northwest. Charles' musical passion grows out of 18+ years of piano, eight years of participating in contemporary worship bands, and seven years of choral conducting. As a student at PLU, he voluntarily served as University Chorale President and PLU Ringers Secretary.
Charles entered PLU as an intended computer science (CS) major and transitioned to music education out of the sheer enjoyment he discovered in his music classes. As his schedule permitted, he later added a few courses in the digital sciences. He has years of computer programming experience and familiarity with the workings of computer networks and network communications. The pastors and CLT are delighted that Charles' gifts check off so many essential elements of Messiah's ministries and look forward to what the future will bring as he shares them with the Messiah community. Welcome, Charles.
