Former summer interns attend seminaries, serve congregations ... and go other places too!

Summer-Interns-at-PLTS-Web-ResBetween 2005 and 2010, and starting again in 2015, Messiah Lutheran Church has hosted sixteen college summer interns. Eight have made their way to ELCA seminaries. Five have attended Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary (PLTS) in Berkeley, CA. In the group photograph are former and current PLTS students. (l-r) Jayson Nicholson (’08) is now a solo pastor at Our Savior's Lutheran Church (ELCA), Laurel, MT. Caitlyn Melillo (’10) just completed a pastoral internship year in Uruguay. Kevin Beebe (’10) graduated from PLTS and recently became the pastor of Spirit Alive Lutheran Church in Kenosha, WI. Ben Hogue (’09) is the Associate Pastor at Lutheran Church of the Reformation in Washington, D.C.
       Paul Kacynski (’07) graduated from PLTS in the spring of 2014 and is the Mission Developer Pastor at Roots of the Table, a Lutheran worshiping community meeting at Luther's Table pub/restaurant/coffee house in Renton, WA.
       One of Messiah's first summer interns, Seth Novak (’05), completed his M.Div. degree at Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg. Seth Seth Novak Stephanie McCarthy for Webserves as pastor at Agnus Dei Lutheran Church in Gig Harbor, WA.
       Other former interns include Kyle Witek (’05) who now serves as the campus pastor of the Beaver Dam Campus of Edgewood Community Church in WI; Rachel Line (’06) who serves as the Executive Assistant to the Bishop in the Pacific Synod of the ELCA; and Rachael Manzo (’09) who completed her degree work in education, now serves as principal at Mary Immaculate Queen School, a K-8 parochial school in Lemoore, CA. Katie Molyneux (’15) graduated from Pacific Lutheran University with a degree in psychology and is seeking employment in social services. Austin Krohnke (’16) graduated from Augustana Univerisity, Sioux Falls, SD, lived the dream of his gap year teaching junior high science and religion in a private Catholic school in Chicago and taking online courses from Luther Seminary in St. Paul. He is now a full-time, on-campus M.Div. student at Luther Seminary in St. Paul. Miriam Hanson (’16) has completed her two years of on-campus M.Div. classwork at Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, OH, and has begun a two-year pastoral internship toward ordination at Faith Lutheran Church in Arlington, VA. Hannah Norem ('17), graduated from Augustana University and is in her second year of a joint M.Div./Jurisprudence degree program at Wake Forest University Divinity School in Winston-Salem, NC. Just for fun, she’s teaching confirmation at Augsburg Lutheran Church, also in Winston-Salem. Zach Croonquist just graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College and is taking a year to serve with the Young Adults in Global Mission (YAGM) organization of the ELCA in Serbia. Ruby Lindgren is a junior this year at the University of Portland and still discerning where God may be leading her. Riley Reed is a senior at Pacific Lutheran Univerisity where she will complete her BS in Business Administration. She is planning to attend an ELCA seminary ... or maybe Duke Divintiy School.
