Capital Campaign Update: “See What ‘Yes’ Can Do”

Lower Level Dining Hall Renovation is Underway | Mortgage Paid Down Substantially |
Work on the Lower Level Dining Hall has begun. This week painting of the walls and ceiling will be complete. The new floor has been ordered and will be installed as soon as the walls and ceiling are completed. Research on new tables and chairs is underway and recommendations will be made to the Church Leadership Team by the dining hall renovation team of Jessica Potts, Winnie Teeter, Cheryl Sanders, and Maureen Weber.

If you would like to participate in funding this specific part of Messiah's capital improvement plan, the CLT welcomes your gifts at this time. You may contact Doug Ruecker, Financial Secretary, or the pastors, to make a specific gift or pledge for these furnishings.

When the lower level is complete, the CLT will move to the next items on the capital improvements project list.

Sanctuary Spruce Up
You may have noticed that the sanctuary had a particularly "shiny look" on Easter. Carpets, pews, windows and wood cleaning all took place in the weeks before Easter. Thanks especially to the crew of wood cleaners who spent a morning scrubbing and buffing: Phyllis Black, Julie Bracken, Janet Borst, Ron Klump, Ellen Ringnalda, and Helen White.

Mission Developer
Messiah's Mission Developer Search Team has written a "Request for Proposal" (RFP) with which it hopes to attract mission developer candidates from coast to coast. The request has been forwarded to ELCA churchwide, seminary and college staff to disseminate to possible candidates. To date, the first proposal has been received!

The Church Leadership team invites you to read Messiah's RFP and pray about it. You may well know someone who would be perfect for the position. It may be a pastor, church worker, or someone who is simply gifted to serve in this capacity. Please pass the information on to whomever God brings to your attention. We are excited to see what God will do!

Mission Developer Search Team members: Sheri Backous, Anna Countryman, Steve Friebel, Mike Odren, Hope Quinn, Doug Ruecker, Theresa Zimmer, and Prs. Peter and Kathy and Intern Pr. Joel Hinck.

Mortgage pay down
Great news! Because of your generous gifts and pledges, the Leadership Team has paid down the mortgage to a current balance of $14,000 with available funds—substantially saving on interest charges. The remaining balance of $14,000 should be paid off soon. When that happens, we will let you know. Celebration to come!

Thank you for your support of the capital campaign. The CLT will continue to update you on projects and progress throughout the year.
