Surrender ... I Give Up: A Lenten Midweek Series beginning Ash Wednesday, February 14

"I give up" are three very powerful words—hard to say, hard to accept, and hard to live by. "I give up" will be the theme of our Lenten discipline together.

Lent is a "giving-up" season when we confess our failures and examine our shortcomings. It is a period when Christians intentionally resign themselves to God's will and not their own. It has traditionally been a time when we fall to our knees and cry out to God, "I give up," to which God says, Finally, Now, allow me …"

Each Lenten midweek service will focus on an aspect of "giving up." Pastors, along with volunteers from the congregation, will together share their unique perspectives, successes, and failures in learning to give up. It will be about truth-telling … all letting the Truth set us free.
